Today, I read a story to first graders using our brand new ELMO document camera. They were entranced and for the first time, everyone could see the pictures. I read to two classes. The first reading felt like I was tapping my head and rubbing my stomach: read text from a cart, hit "freeze" on remote, turn page, hit "freeze" again to project new page, all the while monitoring behavior. With the second class, I felt much more acclimated. The remote has a "freeze" button which enables me to turn the page while the previous page stays, as is. Kids think it's magic! Welcome to the 21st century of read alouds!

Read Aloud With ELMO
